Salary Commission Committee

The Salary Commission is a group of Yelm citizens, appointed by the Yelm Mayor and accepted by the Yelm City Council to set the salaries of local officials. The commission improves government transparency by creating a process to compare the salaries of local officials to those of similar municipalities.

Council members can file a referendum within 30 days if they disagree with the commission, otherwise the salary will take effect immediately if increased. If the commission decides to decrease the salary of an elected official, the new salary will not take effect until their term has ended.

The Commission shall convene no later than December 31, 2018 and every four years thereafter.

Committee Members:

  • Line Critchfield, Yelm Chamber Director
