Volunteer Opportunities

Advisory Boards and Commissions:
Yelm has an active and involved citizen base who give back to the community through service on Advisory Boards and Commissions which advise the Mayor and City Council or conduct business delegated by the Council.

Advisory committees serve as small focus groups comprised of citizens to provide advice to the Yelm City Council and the Mayor from a citizens perspective. If you would like to apply for a advisory position, please complete a Boards and Commissions Application and return it to City Hall.

Recreation Volunteer Pool
Looking for a way to give back to your community? Join our volunteer pool for community events like Christmas in the Park and special projects that come up throughout the year.  If you’d like to join this pool, please contact Line at City Hall either by emailing liner@yelmwa.gov or calling 360-458-8420.

Non-Law Enforcement Community Representatives:

We have a dedicated and committed Police Department who is continually focused on enhancing accountability and increasing trust between law enforcement officers in Yelm and our community. As part of this ongoing effort and in accordance with state law, the City of Yelm is seeking volunteers who are not affiliated with any law enforcement agency to serve on an Independent Investigations Team (IIT). We are creating these volunteer positions in response to the Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act (also known as I-940) which is a state law enacted by Washington State voters. Volunteers on the IIT would be called upon to independently analyze any incident or event involving a significant use of force. Community Representatives would be responsible for participating in various required training relevant to the responsibilities of this position.
