Homelessness Committee

Purpose
Identify areas in which the city may use its resources to coordinate or support services for the homeless population. 

To the extent reasonably possible, the City shall seek representation on the committee to assure that key elements of the community are represented. Among the groups to be considered are: 
  • City Councilmember
  • Specialist in Addiction and mental health issues
  • Representative from a non-profit that provides services to the homeless
  • Representative from an organization that creates or sustains low income housing
  • Yelm area residents

Functions
  • Educate ourselves, our community, and colleagues about homelessness
  • Educate on what Yelm organizations are doing and what we can do to support them
  • Collaborate and coordinate support

The five members of the Board are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council to serve a four year term. The Homelessness Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 am at the Public Safety Building.
