Fallen Soldiers Golf Tournament

Fallen Soldiers Charity Golf Tournament. The Police Department first held a charity golf event in 2009 in honor of Justin Norton, a local soldier killed while serving our country in 2006. In 2013, the tournament was renamed to "Fallen Soldiers Charity Golf Tournament to honor other local soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our country and to raise money for additional scholarships created in their honor. The event is held at the Tahoma Valley Golf and Country Club in Yelm. The date of the tournament varies every year however is normally the second or third Sunday in August. Officer Bill DeVore of the Yelm Police Department has been the coordinator of the event since it began. The tournament has raised over $15,000 in scholarship money given to local high school seniors.
